RACHEL ZOE

I know it is probably very un-pc to say that I really love Rachel Zoe's style! But, I do! She has been critisized extensively for being very thin (and I agree, she is very thin), and for being a manipulative diva. But for me it is easy to look past all of that, because I look at her and I see a person who loves looking good, and loves beautiful clothes, and want to help other people to look good (and yes, I know she tends to make mini-me's, but that is the client's problem). I think it would be magic to raid this women's closet. I really like the vintage dresses she wears, but I also like her in other stuff!

INDIVIDUALISM
I really love people who can be original in their dressing, but still look classy and different

Men are usually too afraid to take chances when dressing - that is why a man dressed like this makes me weak at the knees! This person screams 'I am comfortable with who I am!'

Another case in point...

This is probably one of the coolest women I have seen this year!

Love the look!

VINTAGE DREAMS

Ossie Clark

Emillio Pucci

Ossie Clark

Yes, I know I said that I am not the biggest fan of vintage, but since my Ossie obsession began, I couldn't help myself! And in the process I stumbled upon this site (shrimpton couture), and I love all the beautiful clothes on here. Some of it is reworked vintage, but some of it is the real thing! It is pricey, and most of the stuff that I would love to have, is sold out, but I think if you are serious about buying vintage, you must find a site like this and visit it everyday to be the first to get your hands on the new stuff. They update quite regularly.

OSSIE LOVE

I just got my daily THE OUTNET update, and I was totally intrigued by the Ossie Clark stuff! That just got me thinking about my childhood, and I had a nice little trip down memory lane! My mother wasn't really into fashion, but I can remember a stage where I was about 6 or 7 years old and I guess my parents went through a phase where they went out a bit more than usual. I think any girl likes seeing her mother dressed up. There is one dress in particular that I can remember so well...it was definitely no Ossie Clark (we didn't have money for designer stuff!!), but was obviously based on his designs. It was black with colorful flowers and looked a lot like the black dress above. I thought my mother looked exotic and together with the high heels she looked like a movie star to me.

I'm not the biggest vintage lover, but this I would love to wear! The new stuff is also totally great - as soon as I saw the orange pants with navy chiffon blouse, I knew I would have to get my hands on something similar! Or start looking for the real thing on eBay!

I love the leather corsets...

The armlet..

Another armlet..

ANOTHER TRICKY TREND!

The armlet...

I really like this look. It is something between a glove and a sleeve. I think it can make any outfit more interesting, and I think the best example of how it should be worn was seen at FENDI. While I was looking for examples of the armlet, I realised that this FENDI collection is really nice! Maybe it is because of the very cold weather, which is totally freaking me out since it is supposed to be summer, and summer where I live, is at least 30 degrees C!

I will definitely be wearing this as soon as I can find armlets in South Africa!

TRICKY TREND

The tracksuit pant...

This is a trend that I think a lot of women would be very happy to see, but unfortunately it will not be the easiest one to pull off! There are a few rules to follow if you want to wear this! First of all, you must wear it with high heels, but not just any high heels, it should be (in my humble opinion) chunky heels - as seen at Alexander Wang. It should be dressed up with a tailored jacket or blouse. They should be worn low and slouchy. And if they are studded (as seen at Topshop), even better! Will I wear them? I am sure going to give it a try!

CAPE TOWN

I've just come back from a quick 3 day working trip in one of my all time favourite cities - Cape Town. I was there for work, and didn't have much time to spend doing and seeing the things I love, but, just to be there puts me in a good mood!

One of the things about Cape Town is that there are a LOT of creativity going on, and it is always something new, and original and usually fun. My colleague took me for an early breakfast yesterday, at one of the loveliest hotels in the city centre - The Grand Daddy. They have a coffee shop that opens early, and makes a good cup of coffee and breakfast. It was very nice, but eventually we had to get a move on, and start work. We were having a chat with a client and mentioned our breakfast at the hotel, and then he asked if we knew about the trailer park on the hotel roof??

It is just so brilliant; it is the old 50's style caravans/trailers (I think they have 5), and each have their own theme (the hotel rooms work on the same idea; they get different decorators to each do a theme room). But the one he told us about was just so fantastical that I have to give it a mention. It is the Goldilocks and the 3 bears trailer, and it is done up like Goldilocks' house would have been. Then they throw in a bear suit, and a Goldilocks outfit just for fun!!

There's also a John and Yoko trailer and an Afro-funk trailer. You have to love this idea! (more pictures on their site). A few shops down from the Grand Daddy hotel you can get a designer bunny chow - you can even get a sushi bunny chow! I can go on about Cape Town forever and a day! Cape Town - I love you!
